After many years as a well known designer in the field of advertising, exhibition and point of sale, Ray decided to leave the commercial world in 1992.
He began to devote all his time to his one great love. With no formal training and equipped only with a natural inborn talent, Ray became a full-time artist in Essex.
His partner, Hazel, opened a gallery in Burnham-on-Crouch to sell exclusively his work. Within a very short time Ray's watercolours and pencil drawings were in great demand and were selling not only for display in the UK but also to hang in many other countries around the world, making Ray a truly international artist.
After several visits to Portugal, the delightful
views, climate and superb light of the Algarve urged Ray and Hazel to
sell the business and settle in Praia da Luz in 1998.
They have recently opened a gallery in Luz, 'Picturesque' where
many of his pictures can be viewed.
